The DeSoto is a great place to stay!
“We decided on a vacation in Tybee the day we left. I checked online for a room and called other places but none would take same day reservations. We decided to go and arrived on Tybee about 11 PM. We stopped at DeSoto first when we saw there was a vacancy. I still wanted to check the other places I had seen online and we did. WE CAME BACK TO DESOTO and we are so glad we did. It is right on the beach and the staff couldn't have been nicer. They were a big help to us. The rooms were clean and the big walk-in cultured marble shower was wonderful. They let us have a room for the first night but explained it was booked the rest of the week and we'd have to change rooms the next day (which is understandable since we did not have reservations) Everyone was so nice and did what they could to help us. I just didn't want our vacation to end. I decided to read the reviews about the hotel the night before we were to leave and couldn't understand some of the bad reviews on here. When we were checking out, I asked if the hotel was under new management since I had not seen or experienced anything bad during our stay. They told me the same managers were there then and now. Apparently, the visitors already had a chip on their shoulder before they got to the hotel. We truly enjoyed our stay! We normally go to the Gulf for vacation but no more. Tybee and The DeSoto will be our new vacation spot.”

Great Beach Front Hotel
“We just returned from several days at the Desoto Beach Hotel on Tybee Island and we had a great time. The hotel was much better than what we had expected. It is directly on the beach, so there was some sand/salt on some of the carpets. The room was clean when we arrived. The staff was very nice and we saw them cleaning the property several times during the day. We will stay here again for sure. The beach outside the hotel is very nice. The parking is very limited but this was explained to me when I made the reservation. I was glad we had a smaller vehicle. I would recommend this hotel!!!”

Loved the location and beach!
“This location is fabulous. It was an easy drive into Savannah. The beach is great for walking and the hotel is superior. The room was spacious and the cost reasonable for the beach side hotel. Staying on Tybee Island was a nice treat after a day of walking around Savannah and the bustle of that city. There are plenty of places to eat between Savannah and Tybee as well as on Tybee near the hotel. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.”

Very Nice and Clean
“Yes, Tybee is different in that it is more of an old-fashioned beach town with more houses than hotels or motels so be prepared; however, our room at the DeSoto was as nice as an average priced room at Disney world. We were allowed to view the room before booking since we had read such questionable reviews to see if it was to our satisfaction and were very impressed with the re-modeling. There were no smells! Our room was in the main building so we were close to the elevator, the front desk and the coffee. The room looked brand new with a new, hard mattress on the bed; modern decor; refreshingly painted; updated furniture; and a large shower. The staff was friendly and helpful with our questions and could not have been more accommodating. Tybee is not Hilton Head or Destin so again be prepared. On the beach in Tybee is not on the beach in Florida. If and when I should go back to Tybee, I would definitely stay at the Desoto.”

Awesome Trip
“The staff and facilities were great. We stayed a week and would have loved to have stayed longer. Unfortunately, we had to go back to the real world of work. We will be
making plans in the next couple of months to return next summer. If you ever go to the Desoto Beach Hotel, you won't want to stay anywhere else.”

“Love the Desoto... Always accommodating and a pleasurable relaxing stay. Best hotel on the beach. We have been going for years now and have not had an unpleasant experience to date. I highly recommend this hotel if staying on Tybee Island.”

Beautiful
“I recently went with my family. Their location is perfect. Tybee Beach is a great location for a get away. Desoto Beach Hotel is the perfect place to stay in my opinion. Toward the north side of the beach, there's plenty of room for all to have fun and sort of have the beach to themselves. Toward the southern end of the beach is a big pier. That's typically party central. If you want a little privacy and quite time on the beach, Desoto is perfect for you. If it's more the party scene you seek, you could move on down the beach OR you could stay at Desoto and bike or walk down to the southern tip. The entire island is only 3 miles wide. Desoto delivered for us. I hope it will for your family as well”

Glad I didn’t go by other ratings
“Before leaving I read the reviews,left by other guests. I really debated staying @ the DeSoto. I don't know where these other reviewers stayed, but there had to be another DeSoto, elsewhere. The one we stayed at was very clean, and the Continental Breakfast was fine it was a Cntnl Brkfst. Our room was great, and we did stay in 2 different rms, a side room and a beach front room . When our beach front room was ready, they moved our things to the new rooms. And yes, this arrangement was explained clearly before we got there. It is an older hotel, but a clean one. The staff was very helpful and kind, never anthing but a smile. We never had a problem with parking. It was a nice short walk down to the water and the beach was great. Well, basically I wanted to get the point across that, thought even though it's a small hotel, it was a very nice comfortable, and convenient hotel. And we are glad that we chose to give this hotel a chance, instead of going strictly by the other reviews. So, if you are looking for a good hotel, at an affordable price,consider giving the DeSoto a try-we did and that's where we'll stay every time.”

Nice hotel, beautiful veiw!
“Just returned from 5 nights at DeSoto Hotel. We had a nice size room with a king size bed. We had a ocean veiw room with a very nice view. Rooms have a refrigerator,microwave and coffeepot. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
The internet is slow in the evening but is ok earlier or later. This hotel is about center on island and there is a couple of places to eat in walking distance.”

Best place on Tybee to stay and wonderful staff !!!
“We loved the DeSoto Hotel and location being on the north end . Very low key and beautiful. Our room was very clean the staff was fast on getting things we needed like extra towels they provided us with much information about where to eat . The manager Diane even sat down with us to go over things to do and the best places to eat . The pool area was nice and clean and right on the beach. We also liked the fact we had a safe in our room. I would definately recommend the DeSoto Hotel. A special thanks to the manager Diane and staff Tonya,Yolanda and Charisse for the chats and information.We will definitely go back. Mike's dolphin tours was great we saw many dolphins. Sting Rays was our favorite place to eat but get there early. I wish i was back at the DeSoto Hotel miss you all !!!!!”
